Clifford alarm, I lost one of my remotes

I lost one of the remotes for my clifford ace 2000 car alarm/keyless entry. I need to get another one, but need to know if any universal one will work? Will the new alarm have to have the same fcc id?

Call Clifford and see if they'll send you a replacement..even if you have to pay for it. I went surfing one time with the keys in my pocket and killed that remote. The alarm was a cheap Magnadyne or something, but they sent me a new piece, free of charge.

If any universal remote would work, why would anyone waste their money on an alarm that's so easy to replicate the remote's signal?

well to program any remote, I have to climb under my dash, enter my valet code, and then follow the alarm's instructions. Not too simple, I will email them again, but it doesn't seem like they will just give me one. Hopefully it won't cost too much.

I had to replace one of my remotes last spring after my old Clifford remote fried on me too. Clifford went bankrupt and DEI bought them over. I went to the local car audio and security store and they ordered a remote for me at a cost of $60 (Canadian). I then followed Cliffords instructions to program the new remote so it would be recognized by the alarm 'brain'. The damn alarm wouldn't recognize the new remote at all. I've programmed a new remote before and it was fairly easy, but this new remote of mine did not recognize at all.

The worst part is that the store that ordered me the new remote refused to take it back. So I just leave the damn alarm on valet mode so it is basically useless to me.
