AC in the winter ?

Why would my AC compressor be cycling on and off when I turn on my heater. I unpluged the compressor but here in the desert
it wont be long before I'll need it.

The A/C compressor is engaged when the HVAC switch is in the MAX, NORM, BILEVEL, or DEFROST positions. It should not be engaged in the vent or heat positions.
