right brake light
just making sure i am reading this right...take out the bulb, turn it halfway around, and put it back in? it is the righ tbulb b/c i used the same stock number blub on my other light and it is fine.

Oddly enough, yes.
It is possible to but a bulb in backwards. What happens when you do that is, the bulbs have 2 elements in them of different brightness (note the 2 tabs on the bottom. When inserted the wrong way, the brighter one is now getting power with the headlights.
One way to check w/o the pita of taking the back apart again is have someone look at the tails while depressing the brake pedal (lights off). If one is dim & the other (normal working one) is normal, the one is in backwards. The reason it's dim is the brake is now powering the lower wattage element (because it's in backwards).
