smokey distributer?
smokey distributer?
my car used to idle really weird just when i would start it up and sometimes hitting the gas would have no effect at all in revving it up. so one day i eventually got around to changing the spark plugs because i was certain it was misfiring and because some of the plugs were fouled. but now it will idle just fine and when i hit the gas it stops revving at about 3500 rpm and after a certain while of revving it up smoke begins to come from the distributer, or so it looks like. could just be from the back of the intake manifold. but this seems more like an ignition/electrical problem more than anything else. im gonna have it take to a shop monday and hook it up to a machine to figure out whats wrong, but if anybody can help me out i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks- its a 92 RS 5.0 L with TBI.
Check and see if your distributor is loose. It may be moving and throwing off your timing. Also if it is loose a little oil smoke may be escaping from between the distributor and intake manifold. There is a round gasket under the distributor. Especially if you have a slight manifold or internal head gasket leak. Good Luck!!
