Continued computer functionality w/ elec. speedo swap
I have an 85 T/A with a cable driven speedo. I read the tech article at http://www.hioutput.com/tech/speedo.html Am I correct in the fact that there is a vss on the back of my speedo? If so, can I use the tranny mounted vss that goes to my electric style speedo to run to the computer so it has its needed input. By the way I have an lg4. Well sort of an lg4. It is now a computer controlled 350 running off of the lg4 computer. I notice the brown wire outputs on the buffer box. I was wondering if they generate the same signal as the lg4 computer needs from the cable driven vss?
Thanks

The computer expects a 0 to 5 volt signal, and (I believe) 2000 pulses per mile. At some point, 4000 pulses per mile was used, but I don't know what year it changed in.
Thanks for the help. I found out that my comp will take a 2000 pulse. I was hoping it would. I new it would either be that or the cable driven speedos would send out a totaly different format of signal to the computer which is what I was affraid of. Well, I think that the signal changed around 88 or so. I have a speedo out of an 86 and one out of an 87. I bought one and came across one that I got for free with some other stuff. I also got the buffer box which send the signal to the speedo, and convert the pulse from 4000 that comes from the sensor to the 2000 that the computer needs.
