Anyone change the rear tail light bulbs before?

mine have a nasty grease on them and they wont stay far enough in the socket to stay on...

Ill get em in...put the covers back on (one has my kill switch on it so its a bitch)

I go for a drive and a little bump will make em pop out enough that they dont work...one reverse one brake and a running light....arghhhhh!

Do you have the correct p/n bulb, the pins on the sides of the bulb may be different and they don't plug in. Check this out.

The grease is dielectric grease that is on the light bulbs and in the socket to prevent moisture from reaching the electrical connectors. I think the factory grease is a yellow pasty color. At least that is what is on my 92 Camaro. If you have the correct bulb, check the sides of the metal on the bulb. There is some small bumps on the sides. If they are staggered, there is a right way and a wrong way to put them in. Bulbs put in wrong will not function properly. Like when brake lights get dimmer when a person steps on the brake pedal. The correct way to install them is line the bumps with the grooves in the socket. Insert the bulb and turn clockwise about an 1/8th of a turn. If you can not turn the bulb or the bulb does not function properly, take out the bulb and rotate the bulb 180 degrees. Reinsert the bulb.

Hope this helps

unfortunatly they dont turn...just go in...I messed with them yesterday..

they seem to work now...used a screw driver to push the bottom in before inserting the bulbs.

you can look in the socket..they dont turn///they are just straight lines to guide the bulb down...thats it.

the kill switch is in the tail ;light cuz the guy that put ti theres a tard...

the wiring caught fire twice and I eventually had to replace it myself...
