Broken Wire - Charging Sytem

Would this broken wire cause my charging system not to charge?

It is a ground wire of some sort. I have been unable to trace it back anywhere. But I know when I fried the system because of my own stupidity, lots of smoke was coming from the general direction of this wire.

I wish I had my multimeter to figure this one out properly.

charging system has two fusible links, one is on the voltage sense tab that runs from alternator to battery and other is on the charge wire that runs from alternator to battery. if voltage sense breaks, you'll have an overcharge condition. if charging link blows, battery won't charge even with the car running.

you should, at least wrap the exposed wire with some electrical tape so it doesn't short against the metal chassis.

Yeah, I replaced the wire, it works perfectly now, that was the problem.

Thanks
