Tach is crap

I'm with you guys. MY 91 z 305tpi has this problem. The 91 b4c 350tpi doesn't. I know the problem isn't the cluster, i changed mine. It also causes the gas gauge to act funny. I'm leaning torwards a ground problem

Mine did the same thing. I replaced the entire cluster and it works now. Though the factory tachs are known for their poor quality. I have an RS, so it might be a different problem, though I doubt it.

I know exactly what is wrong. Pull the cluster , the contact points on the circuirt card where the gages are attached is only pressed on. If you are good with solder it is an easy fix

what if the tach has problem of sticking at 2000 or 2200 rpm at start up and not returning to normal for long period of time ? tempo gauge pagging way over rigt also and jamming there ?
