digital dash not working right.

I just recently bought a GTA with a digital dash, and within a few hundred miles, the odometer started intermittently going off. Not recording mileage, just kinda going blank. Then the odometer quit working altogether. I also noticed that by the tach there is a box which is supposed to display something, probably the actual RPM in numbers, but there is nothing there. The speedometer still works. Any ideas what the problem could be or how to fix it? I sure hope I don't have to replace the whole dash.

Sounds like an intermittent problem within the cluster, itself. You may want to disassemble it & check the PC board interconnects & also reflow all of the solder connections on the display PC board.

Tim

Thanks for the reply,it will take a little while to get round to it
as the GTA is my daily driver.

Are the speedo and mileage/odometer connected somehow
via the same circet?

I have the odometer problem in my GTA. It goes on when i first start the car up, then after drving around it turns off.
My dad had a GTA back in the day and his odometer didn't work for about 4 years, then it turned on and off again.

hey guys,

i know that the boz on the tach screen to the uppper left is the screen where the "up shift" light comes on if you have a manual trans car. i'm glad my dash works for the most part still even though the numbers on my odometer sometimes fade in and out while driving.
