Blower Motor Woes...
Blower Motor Woes...
There was something wrong with either the resistors or the relay before I bought the car. The guy I got it from told me about it, and told me he bypassed the resistors and had one wire directly connected to the blower motor, so it would either be off, or work on high. The control panel itself was also messed up, it wouldn't go any further to the left than bi-level. So I had a new control panel and blower motor lined up. A few days before swapping them, the blower switch inside stopped working altogether. Since then I have swapped in new controls, a new blower motor, and a new relay, reconnected the wiring to the way it supposed to be. Plugging into the resitors, then the relay, then to the blower motor, and nothing! I checked the fuses, bypassed the resitors and relay and connected a wire directly to the blower motor, and still nothing. Is there any way I can test for continuity in the wiring instead of just replacing it all? Or is there something I'm skipping over? I looked at the wiring diagram, and it doesn't seem like there's anything between the blower motor controls and the resistors for the blower motor. HELP!
I have a 92 chevy corsica. The blower is hooked directly up to the battery, and when the switch is on vent, defrost, ect the blower is automatically on low unless I turn the switch to the off position. Now for the speed switch instead of 1.2.3.4 I just have high, so its either low or high,or off and it stays on after the car is turned off unless you flip the switch. What I did when I put the switch in was hooked up a little radio to the switch to make sure that there was power going to the switch, once I found out there was then I hooked the blower up to the switch. You should have your factory wires still in the dash for these switches. Make sure that the power to the blower is also hooked up, check grounds ect.. Hey I tried , thats all I can say
Thanks for trying... but I figured it out a few hours ago. It turns out the brown wire comming from the fuse panel is messed up. Well, the wire itself is fine, but its connection in the plug is screwed up. It's kind of jury rigged right now with a wire connecting the brown wire and the brown/white wire so the fan switch will work. I'll have to replace the plug eventyally if I want the A/C to work.

i was gonna say thats what i had to do was pull the panel out of dash and test the brown wire from fuse panel, it was being stupid and not being hot unitl i messed with plugs around back in there and now it all works, so hmmm, interesting, another problem I had in my case was that the black ground wire at the blower motor read dead when i tested its grounding ability, it wasnt even grounded anymore for some odd reason and I dont know where it goes and grounds out at, so I tied into it with another wire and grounded it on the ground screw on the fender near battery, all is good now, didnt have to replace anythingl just had to fool with it, i should have WD40'd all thew electrical plugs in the dash while i was at it though, i may still since i stil have dahs partly disassembled ready for a reciever install, i did spray all connectors underhood though, unplugged them, soaked them and reconnected them. WD40 displaces moisture
good luck
