i have the 86 camaro with the 305. i swapped to a 350. does the computer in the car restrict the performance of the car? i cant rev and higher than 3500rpm in 5th. if so what should i do? get a new computer? a racing chip? what?!!!!!

 

Is/was it a TBI? If so, I think I heard one time that they have speed limiters. Maybe thats the prob. Or more likely im wrong...

the car was a 305 carb. setup. it ran the the rochester 4bbl. i have now taken that same carb but put it on a 350. edelbrock performer manifold, and aluminum heads. trick flow i believe. is the computer still going to limit my ability to go higher than 3500 in 5th. b/c if so i would like to know how i can hit at least 5500 in 5th. if i can hit 5500rpm i will be very happy.

 

I've gotten up to 4200 in 5th w/ 3.73's and an L69 (that had Q-jet on it at the time)

What rear gears you got? I'd do headers if you haven't....
