alt. pigtail

i was just wondering if i have the plug for the alt. wired right. the new pig tail has a red, brown, and black wire. and the factory one has a red, brown, and brown w/white stripe. i know red goes to red but im not sure on the other two i think i have it brown to brown and black to bronw w/white stripe. is this correct or should i switch them?

also is there an alt. relay? and if so where would i find it?

thanks for all the help this site has made it alot easier on me

By 'pigtail' connector, I'm assuming you're talking about the plastic harness connector that plug into the back of the alt ? (sorry, not familiar with the term 'pigtail'.. guess I'm stupid )
There is no relay for the alt though that I know of.

If so, just match the wiring (regardless of color) from the old to the new, as long as the OEM wiring ties to the new in the right spot, there shouldn't be a problem

Example...
