my TPI 305 (peanut cam) is going south real quick in my '88 TA, sounds like lower end, and now I'll have a '88 TA w/ a dead motor and an '05 GTO w/ a dead motor.

that being said, my TA is my work beater and I need a new motor quick and cheap. I can swap my heads and FI over, thats not a big deal, as I'm a technician, but it's not like I ever do this thing @ work.

so I need a 305 or a 350, obviously would prefer a non-peanut cammed 305 or 350, but i'm not going to be picky.

LMK what you got, I can't spend alot, but as we all know, SBCs are old and cheap.

im gonna have a 305 from a 78 caprice very soon,if your interested,you could prolly swap everything over,it has like 98k origonal miles,no heads,but everything else included,i needed heads for a 355 project.whenever i get that done,i will have a complete tbi 305

how soon do you need it? i'm not too far from you if your in WI...but i have a project car without a trans that I'm going to try and sell..but i have a built 355, ported heads, holly stealth ram, etc...400-425 hp, if i seperate I want around 3500 for the whole engine...if your interested let me know, i'm not sure how easy its going to be to sell a car without a trans, so i might end up parting it out..

 

the LS2 spun a rod bearing due to a oil consumption problem w/ the 05 LS2s it ate alot of oil in a little time and bam it's dead. not getting warrantied due to my car being modded.

cost to fix LS2 -- around 4-5k
cost to fix TA and move up to a 350 - under $300

the 305 in this TA is tired, smoked on startup. just drove it to and from work. no beating, but 42mile one way trips 5 days a week. i attribute it's dying due to age, miles and lack of maintenance from past owners I'm assuming. oil level is fine, car felt sluggish and weak from day 1, just been getting worse.

thanks to all, I found a L98 out of a '89 Formy w/ a blown headgasket, nothing else wrong. Includes full TPI system, most accesories, for only $150. So basically I just need to put headgaskets and my 305 heads on it. He's gonna throw in the PROM and ESC if he can still find them. he went carbed and built a nice 355 after the headgasket started to go...

swap starts saturday, hopefully will be done sunday night so I can go to work monday.

 

Good luck. Sucks to have a brand new car that aint worth squat. Sucks even more that you make that hefty payment and cant drive it. Hope everything works out with your bird.

Unless you're the kinda person that can take $250 a week or something, maybe write up a contract, get it notarized.......... I can spend more, but not all at once.

problem is I need a motor now, asap for my TA. no wheels means I dont go anywhere. looks like the idiot w/ the 350 is falling thru.....
