4spd manual out of 82' firebird SE

up for sale is a used 4spd manual setup. i pulled the trans out of a 82 firebird SE that had the LG4 motor. i have almost all the parts to do a manual trans swap except for the torque arm and mount, flywheel, and clutch assembly

the trans shifted fine during the short time i drove it, but there is no warrenty with these parts since they are very old. i am located in northern DE, pickup only of course. $75 takes everything i have with this trans

thanks

hey is this a saginaw or t-10? i dont know too much about the 4 speeds as aposed to the t5's but about how much power can they handle. i know a t5 will take up to around 300 safely but i dont know about these i heard the t-t-10' s are good but the sagniaws are crap.

i could try to get some numbers off it, its pretty dirty tho. if i have time to clean it up a bit ill put some numbers up. i dont have any pics tho

this is what i have:

- trans
- bellhousing
- clutch fork
- shifter, ****, and boot
- console plate (screw holes are cracked)
- Z bar linkage
- clutch/brake pedal assembly
- all related nuts, and bolts, and fasteners
- driveshaft
- crossmember

you would need to supply a flywheel, clutch kit, torque arm mounting bracket, and torque arm to install this transmission. i know the torque arm and mounting bracket are 82/83 specific due to this trans being shorter than the 700R4s and T5s. the arm and mount could come off any 82/83 with the 4spd manual or 3spd auto

If the trans has an aluminum case, its a T10. If its iron, its a saginaw.

not always true super t-10s came with irom cases, the one in my original 4 speed car is an iron case,
they also used a low 3.42 first gear matched to a high 273 rear end in order to meet the gas standards of the early 80s

No 3rdgen F-body came with an iron T10. Any iron-case 4-spd with all the necessary provisions for a 3rdgen chassis will be a saginaw.

Re: 4spd manual out of 82' firebird SE

is the trans a t-10 or a saginaw? did he ever reply if reverse is up and to the left or down and to the left?
----------
i have a saginaw 4spd in my trans am. its not too bad a trans. its only got 57,000 original miles on it. ive heard it can handle about 350 horse safely.

Please don't post incorrect info. You're wrong.
