telling the differnce between 9 bolt 2 and 3 series carrier
is there numbers on the carrier to know the differnce.

If you only have the carrier, no gears(to count) and don't know the part numbers you can measure the offset of the ring gear mounting surface in relation to the center of the crosspin. The 3 series should measure aprox 1.875" and the 2 series with the bigger offset should measure aprox 2.1875".

Axle/Gears: B/W 3.27 in both

sounds right.... I have heard that a 7mm spacer as a shim, or washers will work.
