Re: Torsen diff
since i assume that the firestorm is aimed at me, i will say that i am not exactly sure of the precise way it works, only that it is a purely mechanical form of limited slip that actually has no clutches or preload (in early models) and is instead a torque biasing device.
if the driveshaft can supply say 100 lb-ft and one tire can only hold 20 lb-ft, then the other wheel gets a multiplification factor of that (iirc, its like 500, but i cant be sure, dont quote me)
the main benifit is that you will never have a situation where you are transitioning on or off the limited slip
the bad news is that if you are off roading and one wheel is in the air, the other wheel gets exactly zero torque, since zero times infinity is still zero.
oh, and i am not a homo.
sorry for the confusion though.

wikipedia has an article on everything
its amazing what you can learn if you take the time to do the reading.
i got flamed plenty when i first started asking questions about cars, but with a bit of common sense and the desire to learn stuff, you can be nearly an expert on anything

Hey, Gladstone,
I am/was interested in a 3.73 rear that the OP was selling. He never got back to that thread, so either he doesn't check often or he's playing.
