Interest in a new 383 LT1 shortblock?
I am looking into selling my new 383 LT1 short block. I bought this a while back because it was a steal.
These are specs:
1994 Block - 2 bolt: Bored and Honed and Decked
Speed Pro Forged & Skirted Pistons (11:1 compression)
Speed Pro 1/16 Moly Rings - Hand Fit To Cylinders
Eagle Cast Steel Crank 3.75 Stroke
Eagle 5.7 Rods W/Floating Pins
Comp-Cams LT1 Cam (.576/.571 lift @ .050, 230/236 duration)
ARP Stud Kit For Main Journals
Milodon Windage Tray
High Volume Oil Pump
Heavy Duty GM offroad timing set w/3rd gear
Will also include:
New Lightweight L98 flywheel
1994 complete LT1 wiring harness for Automatic from donor car
1994 LT1 Throttle Body from donor car
Original stock push rods from 1994 LT1 from donor car
stock hub and balancer
No heads or intake included. I have receipts from the machine work and balancing of the rotating assembly and the comp cams spec card for the cam. The block is painted chevy orange. Looking for $3000 (includes shipping of short block and extra parts listed above). With ported heads and intake we were looking at ~465 hp.
I am selling because I only bought this because it was cheap and now I want to go back to what I really wanted - Supercharged 383 LT1 build from Golen Engine Service. Chad from Golen agreed to inspect and approve that my short block is good to go as a courtesy for me if I go ahead with purchasing a new engine from him to help the buyer feel comfortable purchasing. So NO SCAM at all, no warranty but Golen is a very reputable shop and knows LT1's like no others. If there are interests I may go ahead with this by next week and get this short block ready to ship off to Golen and then to the buyer.

I told my friend about your shortblock. He said he might me interested. He wanted to know how much shipping would be to Fort Polk, LA 71459. I tode him he could call around and find out, but he said he rather you find out. You know more about the shipping places in your local area.

I will get that info to you by tonight or tomorrow. Also wanted to mention the short block is setup with a 1995 style cam which uses the vented opti and the 95+ style timing cover which is different from the 94.

Re: Interest in a new 383 LT1 shortblock?
Sorry for the delay. I checked with a local shipping company that ships engines all the time and they quoted me $650 for pick up from my house to both the locations requested above (CA), packaging the engine on a palette and wrapping it all up, then shipping to your address with a truck with a lift gate and includes $3000 insurance.
I have never shipped an engine before but I guess this sounds ok to ship cross country including all their packaging costs and pick up and delivery.

TTT New price, w/o sending to Golen engine service. I got a new engine coming in and got no more room for this. This is a steal!

Re: Interest in a new 383 LT1 shortblock?
You could carb it but I would check on the LT1 boards first... I have heard it is far more costly to carb and LT1 and less power. Keep the LT1 fuel injected. All you would need after this motor is the heads, intake, sensors, and accessories and brackets all of which you can prob get cheap from a junkyard. I am supplying the harness and a bunch of other stuff.
