Msd timing control for GM external coil
Part number 8683 I think it's for 86 up gm cars and trucks with external coil. Timing can be retarded/advanced by up to 15 degrees. This was only used for a short time. Instructions included. $75 shipped except to some places where shipping would be slightly more.

Re: Msd timing control for GM external coil
How can a coil controller adjust timing? That should a function of the dizzy itself, not the coil.

Re: Msd timing control for GM external coil
I am assuming it would just delay the signal from the cam trigger in the distributor before it fires the coil.

How so?
I didn't even bother to point out that the cam trigger (comment by Will) is in the dizzy, and is a purely mechanical function, so it can't be changed.
I initially asked because I was genuinely interested. You've managed to twist a question into something else. Quit trying to stir stuff up.

If your take my post literaly, I guess you would be correct. Here is more what I was meaning.
The signal goes from the magnetic pick up in the distributor through the Ignition module to the coil. The signal from the module is routed through the box and the box delays (or advances) firing the coil.
