I'm selling this gear that I'm pulling out of my truck. 7.5" or 7.625" gear - Series 3 obviously. 26-splines.

The posi worked flawlessly in my truck. Gears made no strange noises and were set up by a professional (not me!) when I bought the Auburn about 25k ago.

I'm looking for $225 for the SET and will break up if someone is serious.

I'll ship via FedEx Ground, buyer to pay actual cost. I would like to get the 3% that PayPal takes, but that's obviously negotiable.

Out of what truck is it? What spline axles does it take?

 

'85 S10. Pretty sure its a 26-spline axle. But I can count tonight to be positive.

I think that the spline count isn't as important as stronger axles either. I thought that both the 26 and 28 spline differentials were the same size and strength, right?

 

My understanding is that spline count DOES matter. So basically a stock 28-spline axle should be stronger than a stock 26-spline axle. As long as you're comparing apples to apples then I think this applies.

As for the "size" the older 7.5" and newer 7.625" (7 5/8") rears are not the same size, per se, but they DO interchange.

If you have a 26-spline axle rear, then this is the posi for you.

 

I'm a little confused, you have a posi unit, AND gears? I'm looking for a posi unit with stock gears for an 87, which I believe was 2.73. Thanks.

 

Yes, posi unit and 3.73 gears. Obviously these aren't the same as your 2.73 gears if that's what you're looking for.

 

i am just interested in the auburn unit and not so much in the gears....what would a price be just for carrier????

 

I would let it go for $195 - OBO. I think the gears lose value without the posi.
