That depends on what your really asking: It does not have gears, IE, no ring, pinion, or carrier.

If your asking if it's better because you thought it included gears, no, it's not, your stock one probably has gears and works.

I am not sure if the 2.8 v6 and V8 86's have a different rear axle, I suspect they are both exactly the same 10 bolt housings, just with different gears and carriers. So, really, it's the same housing you already have.

You would need to look at your RPO codes to see what Axle assembly your car has. Someone more familiar with that year can answer better than I can.

This is a great deal for someone who wants just a housing, and/or axles, and/or some sensors.

I will have my 94's original 2.73's and the Auburn Posi available after tomorrow, if you want to get the parts to swap the internals in your housing.

 

I swapped out my 2.73 Auburn series 2 posi stuff yesterday for the 3.42 Zexal/Torsen from the housing posted in this thread, so it's available now. I'll get some pics up later today. Works great, launches well.

It consists of the Auburn posi with the ring gear, and ABS Reluctor tone ring, and the pinion.

Richmond makes gears for the series 2 carrier as low as 4.56. (I'm sure there are other brands as well)

I sold it already. All I have left is the housing for $20. It would be a great source for brackets and tubes for a 12 bolt swap or 8.8 hybrid
