Re: Lemons big block headers custom made for 3rd gen
Who built them: Lemons Headers, one of the best header shops in the country http://www.lemonsheaders.com/ My headers are not on their website because they were made just for me.
Why: Because I wanted to put a big block in my car and use off-the-shelf 3 inch Y-pipe and 4 inch exhaust in normal location. Hooker headers are essentially side pipes and I could see them in plain sight under the doors (FUGLY!), and they are located on the wrong side of the subframe ridge under the car. What that means is you either put mufflers under the seats, or re-arrange the sheet metal under your car, or sacrifice huge ground clearance routing the exhaust to the back of the car. 100% of the exhaust will be custom fabbed with Hooker headers, and it will be fugly, not to mention expensive if you can't do it yourself.
Power Band: It all depends what cubes you run with your engine. I have 2-1/8 inch primaries with 3 inch collectors and a mid-length Tri-Y design. It is impossible to fit that large of tube into your car with a 4-into-1 header design. (That's why the Hooker headers have tiny 1-3/4 inch primaries.) Tri-Y headers are excellent for powerful street engines because they lift mid-range torque but still flow well on the top end. The only reason you don't see more Tri-Y headers is because they are expensive.
Materials: Lemons headers are always steel. I don't know the exact spec of tubes and header flange. I didn't care really, because this is Lemons -- top notch stuff!!!!
My Advice: The way I see it you have five choices. You just have to choose one.

- Stock manifolds.
Okay, now that we've all had a good laugh we can move on. - Some cheap Chinese shorty header some people are talking about. Come on! You didn't put a big block in your car to have small block performance.
- Hooker long tubes. Common choice, but an entry level header with tiny 1-3/4 inch primaries. Frankly, nobody would choose these if there was a better affordable choice. Also, you must like the look of side pipes on your car because the collectors are placed right under the doors.
- My Lemons headers. I say my headers because this is the only set in the world. Heads and shoulders above the Hooker headers.
- Huge race headers that make you cut up the body.

Wow. I'm surprised such a nice piece is sitting unclaimed for so long. Just haven't met up with the right person yet.

I may be interested in these if you've still got them. We'll see. We've talked before awhile back. I came across some money selling some Ford parts, and I'm tempted to start building a big block.

If somebody buys this then I'll quit bumping it to the top. That might be worth it right there!

You either gave me the wrong phone number or your name is Louisa and you don't like to answer the phone.
Re: Lemons big block headers custom made for 3rd gen
Sorry. Was in different part of house and didn't make it in time. It's the ladies phone and the "#" is correct. We'll get together on these, no sweat. Steve
