Pics of Jeep shafts to jgindin20@hotmail.com
Did you ever mention if these were Cherokee or Grand Cherokee shafts? And from approx. what year? What is "pressed"?
Thanks!

Re: Jeep Steering Shafts
I run a Jeep shaft in my car. The only binding issue I ever had was when a wire got wrapped up around the shaft. I would take the Jeep shaft over the stupid stock rag joints any day. Only mod I did for install was grind out a slight dimple in the car side steering shaft to make room for the pinch bolt, other than that it is pure bolt on magic.

Hey what's the deal with the jeep parts? Are they some kind of upgrade or just non thirdgen related?

Re: Jeep Steering Shafts
My shaft has a ton of play at the slip joint. When you turn the wheel the shaft turns about an 1/8 of a turn before the second part of the shaft. Any thoughts?

Re: Jeep Steering Shafts
I noticed a bit of rotational play in some of the jeep shafts. And also in one of the Astro shafts, but the others were tight.
Did you grease the assembly? Im guessing the epoxy or whatever it is inside eliminates any play. After all, there has to be SOME space since its not an interference fit.
I took a BFH, and a punch, and just caved in the side of the bigger side a TINY bit on one that I have and it took it away.

I had an incident this weekend involving a 15 foot ladder and gravity so I've got plenty of time to think about this stuff until my bones heal

Re: Jeep Steering Shafts
Oh that stinks!! Hope you have a quick recovery. I hate ladders... Im not afraid to be on the roof...but having to use the ladder to get there is what stops me!
I thought about putting the bigger side in my press and squeezing it a bit. I mean...its fairly tight to begin with, so it wouldnt take much to remove some of the play.
I wouldnt pin it either. If you squeeze or peen, it should still easily collapse in an impact. If you come up with something or try something, please post up!
