1227730 ECM and chip 5.0L TPI

I'm selling a good used ECM and chip out of my own personal 1991 Z28. This car has been a daily driver for about 5 years, I'm now slowly parting it so I can finish restoring my Buick GN. Asking $150 shipped. Thanks

Tom

It depends on your combo. Is your car all stock or is there mods? If so send me a complete list of mods and I'll be able to assist you better.

Re: 1227730 ECM and chip 5.0L TPI

I am running hooker headers into a single cat 3 in exhaust with a hooker aerochamber muffler. K&N drop in air filters and the rest of the engine and drivetrain are stock with the g92 factory option . Was also thinking about an Edelbrock after market base and runner intake , but from what I have read it doesn't sound like the gain is worth the money. So thinking of trying a chip for now. Thanks

Re: 1227730 ECM and chip 5.0L TPI

As far as upgrades go, the exhaust is probably what's going to be the only real change as far as calibration. Since your still running a catalyst it's not necessary to change the chip however with the addition of headers and larger pipes a custom chip will allow you to make better power. My suggestion would be to have a custom chip burned with your vehicles specs. With that being said, this can be costly if you plan on more upgrades later. As far as your intake manifold is concerned, the edelbrock would help but if your looking to make significant power I would recommend a Holley stealth ram setup. This is a bit expensive but by far out flows any other TPI style manifold available. On a z28 I had several years back I used a stealth ram on a 305, with headers and flowmaster cat back, all stock long block, 700 trans and 3.23 rear. The car ran well, did consistent low 13's.

I had a friend burn all of my chips, I can see if he still has his equipment and is willing to burn one for you, and the cost. Also I do have another contact who does custom chips as well.

Thanks camaro 3554 gear, That would be appreciated . I would be interested in the cost . Can you still utilize the stock hood with a Holley Stealth ram set up ? I gather it is more expensive than Edelbrock .

I did use the stock hood, and I know a few others that have as well. It's very tight to say the least, If I remember correctly the hood is basically right on the upper part of the manifold. Maybe by modding the braces under the good you may be able to gain some clearance.

I will contact my buddy about the chip, as far as the manifold I may be able to get you one of those too.
