Have 82-86 305ci Edelbrock headers/y-pipe
Hi all
I bought these many years ago when I was going to hot rod the 85 Camaro 305 Vin H I have but never did. Now that I am going to fix it up for cruise nights, and am now not required in Illinois for emissions, I was going to use these and cut off the emissions piping as I am now removing all emissions stuff.
However, It just occurred to me that maybe someone with emissions may be interested in buying these and I shouldn't cut them up? I tried to look these up for current pricing and it appears they are no longer made.
These headers are new, black finish with a few scratches from moving around, have the y-pipe and hardware kit and the instructions, which say: "Catalog Number 6871 (patent pending) 1982-86 Camaro and Firebird with LG4 (low output) 305ci
It also says "this system requires no welding and retains all OEM stock emissions equipment"
Are these desirable? ,what are they worth, and should I try to sell to you guys and just get non-emissions type for my project??

sorry Keith-I could not seperate-I would need to sell both and get enough to buy new new non-emissions headers and have a new crossover put on from Midas or so. I guess I'll just have to cut and plug holes in these and then bolt it up to my existing exhaust-just thought they might be "in demand" for emisiions guys-guess not

Re: Have 82-86 305ci Edelbrock headers/y-pipe
I couldn't separate as I was hoping that I could sell to someone that needed it for emissions and get enough money to get a new cheap set of headers and have enough money to pay midas to create a crossover pipe to tie them in
I guess these are not in demand so I'll have to cut them up and make them look OK-at least they should bolt up without needing professionl help / cost and I already have them-not sure how they'll end up looking however
Keith-I just noted you have an 87 in New York- In IL a car is considered an "antique after 25yrs old I think and no emissions testing-Is that diff in NY and if not how do you deal with all the emissions stuff all over the engine and firewall?

After 25 years they don't test emissions anymore. Most of the time they just check for a cat here. I took everything except the cat off my car. If you don't want to cut them up I know that a cast plug from depot fits in the hole perfect. I have my stock manifolds pluged with 3/8 plugs. No problem at all.

Re: Have 82-86 305ci Edelbrock headers/y-pipe
thanks Keith-I like menards vs depot (rebates and free stuff there. The problem i now hace is i cutout the stock good y-pipes to get the ehaust manifolds out (maybe dumb as the pipes turned out to be very solid -but the bolts and access were tough- If you know how to weld them back togeter-I have them-in 3 peices or so-all the way back to the i think original cat where it came off of. The pipes are solid and thick for some reason-not aluminized pipe. I'd sell for $25 plus shipping (mainly for the trouble of doingthat) if I can get them off the manifolds without messing them up-don't have special tools/torch.

Tom I have all stock now that is in great shape. I also have the same headers as you but with the A.I.R taken off and welded closed. I was looking for the y pipe for them but decided to go another route. I also have a set of long tubes I'm selling. Looking to either go stainless or a turbo setup. Still in the air.
Thanks

OK-good luck with what you decide -decisions decisions
-I'm old school (and old) turbo (or nitrous) is "cheating" in my book- maybe go for 396-375hp like i have in my lemans-ran a 12.31 at 114.67 42 years ago and still runs as good today, & never rebuilt (low travel though, with 4.88 gear and leaded gas @ 7/gal-but now too scared to go that fast and no money to get to the track and/or risk a break and a long "push" HOME-HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN-iF YOU KNOW ABOUT WIRING and other misc stuff SEE MY OTHER POSTS and help me out. Not sure how you would view all my current posts but there may be a way-see you later

Re: Have 82-86 305ci Edelbrock headers/y-pipe
I would need to get 250 (firm) plus ship so I could get another "cheaper set and have a crossover pipe installed ( these appear to be good quality-heavy as headers go)-it has a hardware kit in a bag that supposedly has everything you need (as these are "new" some scratches, and never installed, i can't say its an easy install or that all parts are there but the paper bag was sealed until i opened it to see what was inside
UPON A QUICK REVIEW AT SUMMIT-I MAY NEED A LITTLE MORE THAN 250+ SHIP-I WILL CONTINUE TO RESEARCH TODAY AND LET YOU KNOW-SORRY

OK
well I can get flowtech for about 150 (incl tax) and allowing 100 for y-pipe seems like a resonable ammount they would charge-so i maybe break even at 250+ship
If anyone wants them pls make me an offer
