Header Back true dual 3" mandrel bent exhaust with Xpipe
I just finished it and put 20 miles on the newly over axle pipes and I've decided to downgrade my engine/exhaust combo for something more stock.
I have a lot of money invested in this exhaust and ALOT of time and welding and materials. This setup was originally used behind headman LT headers for a standard SBC, then behind a 521 BBF. The only change I made between the swaps was the connection from the headers to the Vbands… so I just fabbed new pieces from 3" Headman Sbends and bought 1 Vband set to connect them and thats all. This clears all transmissions and doesn't hang low at all. Lowest part is the mufflers that sit under the rear seats. they are 4.5" Stainless Jones mufflers with 18" case lengths and do a great job of making the exhaust tamer on the street but still very nice, mellow and loud. I got a lot of compliments for it over the years.
Here is the exhaust specs.
3" stainless Vbands fully TIG welded with 308 rod to summit racing universal 3" Xpipe, 3" mandrel bends into the 18" case Jones SS max flow mufflers, 3" Mandrel bends out and up over the axle on both sides of the car (will clear rear and gas tank, I used a founders PHB relocation for the pipe to clear on the pass side and it costs $90). THe 3" mandrel bends are all fully TIG welded and then go into 3" Vband flanges over the axle to connect to the very well hidden 3" dumps that hide behind the bumper so its not seen. The exhaust is all Aluminized steel painted in 2000* header paint, the mufflers are Stainless that I painted, Vbands are stainless, and the pipes from the muffler back is wrapped in titanium exhaust wrap. Also on the one side is a Stainless 02 Bung TIG welded in which I can provide a plug for no extra charge. Perfect for adding a WB02 which is what I had in it.
This setup was used on a my car which was lowered alittle and I could drive with very little scrapes. I did avoid large speed bumps tho lol. This is a very high flow exhaust and perfect for engines 600HP and higher. It sounded wicked on my 383 HSR and my 521 BBF. I spent a lot of time fabbing this up and a lot of money.
Looking for $300 plus the ride. Local pickup is preferred due to the weight. but it does come apart pretty nicely so I could ship in multiple boxes. Located in West Orange NJ 07052. Your getting ALOT for $300 as most Catbacks cost minimally about $300 and this is a true dual 3" with Xpipe. I just want it gone as Im working on the new combo.
This is what it looked like on the car right before I pulled it off.

Better pic of the mufflers forward and you can see it fits very nicely. I ran it like this for a year before adding the axle back sections which you can see in the first couple of pics.

This was the older setup with the 14" chambered mufflers before I swapped in the max flows SS which is in the pic on the right.

Inside the High flow mufflers… these are built just like magna flows. very nice quality and sound and no performance loss.

would this fit a bmr trans crossmember with the torque arm mount?

Re: Header Back true dual 3" mandrel bent exhaust with Xpipe
Yup. I routed it around the trans crossmember and subframe completely so you can pull the trans without disconnecting the exhaust. All you need to fab is the 2 peices to connect the headers to the Vbands or you can cut the pipes going into the Ypipe and run it however you want from there. The Xpipe also clears the Jegster 82-92 3rd gen driveshaft saftey loop which is what I have on my car, the small mounting tab in the pic just before the Xpipe is where I bolted the exhaust right to the jegster drive shaft saftey loop. The way I ran it (with the pipes that are missing and you would have to fab) was that I knotched the stock subframes and this allowed me to tuck my Sbends right up against the floor for max ground clearance. The Trans fan sat lower than the exhaust at that point. But you can use and design you want to connect the headers to the xpipe as thats the easy part. Running the pipes over the axle was the hard part.

im not sure it will, my crossmember sits a lot lower and the only real way I can route it is above the crossmember next to the transmission

I don't know how far your crossmember sits back/low from the trans mounting point but I want to say the Xpipe its at least 12" away from the trans mounting point. In my pic it was with a 2004R which the mounting point is farther back (towards the rear of the car) than a 700r4. From your sig I see you have the TH350 which has the same mounting as the 2004R I think. I can measure how far the Xpipe is from the trans mount if you want. you just need to tell me the how far your DS loop is from the trans mount.

Just thought that I also have the chambered mufflers that were on it before I swapped mufflers. They are in great condition as I kept them inside after pulling them off for the muffler swap. This would pull the Xpipe farther toward the rear of the car by at least 4" as thats the difference in muffler length.

I also don't have a ds loop. how much ground clearance did this have?

Re: Header Back true dual 3" mandrel bent exhaust with Xpipe
I know its hard to see in the pic. Look at the 4th pic from the top. Up to the front of the car you can see the header collectors, then the Sbend that goes through the stock subframe and Goes around the entire stock suframe by the trans mount and then loops back farther down to the Xpipe. It would clear your mount with no issues. Your issue is to tuck the exhaust up high enough you would need to figure how you want to run the exhaust from the Xpipe forward. I knotched my stock subframes to run the exhaust up against the floor... and the dual 3" didn't sit lower than my deep tranny pan. The lowest part of the exhaust is the mufflers under the rear seats. I had my car lowered and i could drive n the street, I did avoid speed bumps tho. If you dont feel like cutting the stock subframes then you could run them over your tranny crossmember (between the tranny tunnel and crossmember) if you have the room or run them under the crossmember by the ground which is what most do but kills ground clearance. Thats why I ran my outside the stock crossmember/subframe and then knotched them farther up toward the engine. Yours would be super easy as you just need the ball/flange headman 3" Sbend and two short 45* bends and 1 Vband kit and you will bolt right on to this exhaust (if you knotch the stock subframes).
I dont have any pics of it on my work computer but its not that bad. Again the lowest part is the muffler on my setup. I might have some ride height shots of the car when I had it all done and out to a show. At least a couple of shots from the rear of car but idk about any from the side. But as I stated the pipes where higher from the ground than my tranny pan.

Still have it, got to get a shipping quote for chimera above you and still waiting to hear back on some others. If I still got it that would be ideal being that shipping is heavy and costly.
I'm not splitting it up as I won't be able to sell the rest separately.
