I have a set of 1988-92 Firebird Formula wheels, 16"X8", two fronts, two backs, with used tires. All tires hold air. Fronts have lots of tread but are older tires,, backs hold air but aren't good for much but smoke shows.

I love the look of these wheels, but am selling to go to the GTA style rims.

I live in Ste. Genevieve MO, but drive to St. Louis for work, so we can arrange to meet for exchange.

If you were closer I'd offer to trade you for some TA/GTA wheels...

Can you do me a big favor and weigh one of the fronts and one of the rears (with or without tires is fine)? I'm wondering if they're as crazy heavy as the TA/GTA wheels (I have 3 sets of them sitting around here and don't run them just because they're really heavy)

edit- I just realized where you're going with this... they came on most GTA's... for some reason I was thinking he was talking about the hi-tec wheels like on the TA's (I don't know if they were supposed to come that way but I know that I've seen more than one GTA with those on them).

I never thought those looked right on formulas but whatever...

Still curious what the formula rims weigh (again, with or without tires)

I weighed them back in the day but have completely forgot what the formula wheels weigh.

I can probably do that this evening. The weights will be a little misleading because the fronts have a lot more tread than the rears, but you'll get the idea.

The fronts have thicker backs than the back, the regular hi tech wheels off of a TA are 4lbs heavier on the front then the back. For that matter I would be really suprised if you could wear even a pound of rubber off the tread.

Ok, I finally weighed them... Fronts 53.2lbs, Rears 48.6lbs.

That's a bigger spread then expected. FWIW, the set of the TA high tech wheels that I weighed a while back (the convex center ones that are like the formula ones, they were actually the originals on my formula 350), were 56 front and 52 or 53 rear, so the formula ones seem lighter then the TA ones (these were with some bald _original '87_ eagle gatorbacks on them)
