I bought 2 ecm's & wire harness TPI Speed density setups from 2 different '91 V8 Camaro's. I ended up only using one. I sold one harness, I have had one ecm just reprogram for my setup. All I can tell you is that it is for a 2.8. I do not know enough about them to tell you more. I have to ask the person that did the programing on the one, to know more. To me, it is a 1227730 Speed density ecm, which that it only needs a different memcal, or to be reprogramed, for a v8.
If you need more info on it, I can ask about it.
I have 5 other ecm's, one of them is suppose to be able to be changed for a '90-92 v8 speed density also, but I have no idea, if true.
If you pop the access cover off the ECM, the original MEMCALs will have a silver tag with the broadcast code identifying what the prom was coded for. Most of the time, reburned MEMCALs have the sticker removed, or are otherwise marked.
Somewhere around here I've got a couple spare 7730's I bought that had things like 91 Fbird 5.7 TPI written on them in junkyard paint pen, only to pull the MEMCAL and google to find out it's a 3.1 prom, or something else. The MEMCALs in some cases are worth several times more than the ECM. Depending on if there's a MEMCAL included and if it's the correct MEMCAL for a V8 Thirdgen it could be an OK deal, or the deal of the year. Is why I was asking. That and keeping someone who doesn't know what to look for, from buying a ECM thinking it's all they need only to find out the important part isn't there. BTDT.
