sounds like he needs one for a 1989 which has vats...so he'll need a 1989 specific with vats box to match

 

I've never seen an 89 Camaro with VATS. The Camaro interior didn't get a facelift until 90. Firebird - Yup,......... but never a Camaro.

 

all 1989 f-bodies recieved the "chip key" aka vats ignition in 1989...GTAs recieved them in late 1988....has nothing to do with a "facelift"...in 1990 all f-bodies recieved the airbag...

 

Learn something new every day. Never owning an 89 I thought the Pass key Was introduced with the redesigned Camaro interior in 90. So an 89 Column has VATS but no Air Bag,.......... Interesteing.

 

i have a black steering wheel and column with tilt,key, vats and box (i dont know exactly what this is but i have all of it so i am sure it is there) from an 89rs that i am parting out. the horn does not work, i have had this looked at by a mechanic and he told me i am missing some kind of ring or something. he said it was only a couple of bucks and that it was something simple and i could do it, i just never got around to it. the door alarm is a little funny, you know the alarm that goes off when you open your door with the keys in the ignition? well if you wiggle the keys a little bit, it will quit. dont know why it does this, but i liked it so i never bothered looking into it. the car has 89,000 on it. i dont know what these go for, but 35 seems low. Make an offer.
