local battery shop or electric motor shop will put in higher output parts for low cost

call them up
the smaller shops will work with you, unlike larger places and wil be glad to help out and dont charge much
for example, i needed new brushes in the alternator in my old beater 88 toyota pickup a couple months ago,

so well i took the alt off the truck and brought it to the battery shop and he soldered in new brushes for a whopping 15 bucks, including disassembly and reassembly-
a new alternator would have been over 100 bucks
