CUSTOM ECM CHIP

My 1990 Pontiac Firebird 3.1 V6 needs a new chip. I put headers and deleted the smog pump and I have some weird issues now. Car stalls at idle sometimes, loss of power once it warmed up. No one can figure it out except that the computer must be corrected. If you can burn a chip custom for me I'm willing to pay you whatever you feel is fair. I called a couple places and their prices are astronomical.

Also, dont be one of those guys telling me to do it myself. I'm not going to purchase the equipment, spend time I don't have, just to do it once. If you have the equipment, and need some extra cash, PLEASE pm me, or email me (AdmAnt13@optonline.net) and let me know what you can do. I'm in desperate need to fix this damn car.

Thank you,
Adam

Re: CUSTOM ECM CHIP

have you converted to a 3-wire O2 sensor? that will most likely fix your problem.

Re: CUSTOM ECM CHIP

the three wire has a heater, so when the car is warmed up, the o2 sensor wouldnt do much of anything different than my standard 2 wire.

I might just have the smog pump put back on if NO ONE CAN HELP.

Re: CUSTOM ECM CHIP

you mean standard 1 wire O2 sensor. Its pretty widely accepted that headers allow the one wire O2 to cool down enough where the ecm thinks its running rich and leans it out causing it to stall at idle conditions especially.

My GUESS to the power loss when warm is that its running too lean, or needs a tune-up... I could probably make an attempt to burn you a custom chip (delete smog, etc). Chip and adapter cost about $55-60 from moates.net, make it $75 shipped and I'm your tuner. I will be hesitant to burn the chip untill you convert to a 3-wire O2 sensor, though.
