Vehicle Speed Sensor

My speedometer stopped working. I beleive I need a VSS. It's for an '86 Firebird, 2.8, 700R4. Anyone has one at a reasonable cost? Would purchase a new one if I was sure that's the problem.
Thanks

Re: Vehicle Speed Sensor

Electric or Cable tranny sensor ??? I've seen both types used on the 86 V6 Firebirds.

The sensor is for an electronic control....no cable.

Re: Vehicle Speed Sensor

trust me let the dealer or a high end shop do it when you get it. I went to dozens of shops who wanted nothing to do with it! I got one from advance auto and it was Indochinese made and did not fit, none of them fit... only the REAL GM one finally fit. Do it quick though it's rough on the torque converter and your gas mileage!
