Need a starter cover

I don't know what you call it, but it was pointed out to me today that my started gear is not covered like it should be. Apparently there is a cone or some kind of plate the covers it to protect from rain / rocks getting into the starter gear assembly when i go to crank the engine. I have no idea what it looks like, but it would probably be between the size of a golf ball and baseball. Anyone help me out? PM if you can. THANKS!

Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. That small gear should apparently be covered. I could be wrong, but hopefully you guys can help. THANKS!
