i have a pbr set up from a 10 bolt and i need everything to convert it to a 9 bolt, may trade 10 bolt parts if someone wanted to swap the same parts

 

I have a complete 9 bolt posi rear with e cables. I bought this rear from ThirdGenRanch over a year ago and they said it was in good condition. When I got the rear I just put it aside till I had time to go through it and put it on my car. As I studied about the 9 bolt rear, I noticed that the cones were bottomed out. I decided to remove the carrier (series III, 3:27 gears) and machine the cones down. To my surprise, two spider gears were seized to the four pin cross shaft,two ends of the cross shaft were broken in half and been wallowing out the case halves. I GOT SCREWED BIG TIME on this deal. Bad spider assembly, damaged case halves, cones wore out, bad brake rotors, missing PBR brake parts. They stated it had about 90,000 miles on it....My A**!!! Anyway, I'm going to stay with the 10 bolt and I would be interested in converting my 10 to disc....PM me and will talk more if interested.

 

All you need is the 9-bolt backing plates for the conversion. They are available at the following site:

what about the dust sheilds

 

Unneeded. Some OE's were equipped with them, some weren't.

i would be interested in the brackets then, i would rather buy them then trade, what do you think

 

Yesterday,I was able to find a replacement series III carrier with all the parts that I need to repair my 9 bolt so I'm going to hold on to what I have for now. I'll let you know if it doesn't work out. Its so hard to find replacement parts for the 9 bolt and they have a hefty price tag on them. JamesC is right, email Ed Miller, he has what you need.

 

ya i was just trying to save some money i have 2 spare 9 bolts but they both have iron calipers

 

I understand, did those 2 spare 9 bolts with the iron calipers have 2:77 gears? Last year That Piece Of Sh** 9 bolt that I bought cost me $450.00. I had to buy new rotors, $90.00, (2) ebrake springs, rebuild kits, hard lines 100.00 and now a replacement carrier with gears $250.00. As you can see I've got $900.00 in this frigging 9 bolt and it ain't even painted yet....LOL. I should have saved and invested in a 9 inch instead.

 

theyre both low mile 3.27s i have 350 into the both of them, then that 10 bolt is a 373 posi

 

I'll post some pic's soon of my damaged 9 bolt carrier. Right now I have a 28 spline 10 bolt 3.08 drum in my Z. The original 26 spline 10 bolt 3.23 drum has a few missing teeth on the pinion gear. I recently purchased a set of 3.42 gears to replace the original 3.23 gears. My goal was to have the stronger 9 bolt rear with PBR disc brakes. Eventually I will upgrade the front to dual piston PBR's.
