Okay so I bought my very first car (im only 16 keep in mind) and it just so happened to be an 89 camaro, bought it for $900 straight up guy told me there was an issue with the tranny. When its on the ground and I put it in gear there is a loud grinding noise coming from under the car, I listened to it and didnt think it was that. Well I lifted the back end up took the drive shaft out and started er up and went into gear and no noise so next idea was the rear end. Turns out my gears are bad out back. Ive been looking for weeks and cant seem to find parts anywhere well not for my price range anyway (burger king salary haha). So im looking to buy a rear end or maybe just gears if I can find identical ones. Its a 9 bolt rear end Borg Warner I believe, it has 36 teeth on the ring I think but I never checked the pinion unfortunately. Cars got a 350 in it and im not sure on what my transmission is. If you can help me at all im open to all offers right now let me know and we can work out a deal. All replies and private messages will be responded to.

Yes 100% positive, i went and took the gears out yesterday and double checked its a nine bolt with 36 teeth on the ring and 11 on the pinion

My rear end went out on my 92 Z....go to Summitracing.com and look for their housebrand gears....they're the same as Richmond Gears....I upgrade mine from 3.23 to 3.42...all of theirs are the same price so you can choose what ever you want. I paid about $200...you might be able to find ebay for $150.

 

Oh wow yeah i did read it but i havnt been able to find what im looking for on there as in what did you look up to find it? Im trying to have it rebuilt right now through the school where i take my automotive classes

 

Look up Ring and Pinion, then the size of gear. You've a 7.75" if I'm not mistaken so look that up.

best would be to rebuild yours at school if you can....that way you see whats up in the rear end...

 

I dont want to have to do the drums or switch from drum to disc. Ive had the car in a friend of mines garage and ive already pulled the carrier and the pinion out and im having someone look at them im just waiting on a price right now so not sure what im doing right now but thank you
