I am looking for an aluminum master cylinder for an 82 Trans Am with 4 wheel disc brakes. It HAS to be aluminum, not cast iron. It must be from a 82-83 car with disc brakes as the later fittings were metric. I plan on rebuilding it, so as long as the casing is good I am interested. I would need the part number off of it to verify that it is correct.

 

i have a brake master cyl out of a 85 iroc z it has the booster and prop valve still attached the car had drum brakes i can look for numbers on it to see if you can use it

 

85 has metric fittings. It needs to be 82-83.

If I'm looking at a drum and a disk prop valve - how do I know which is which ?? If there's a part number on it - where is it ?? Aren't all early prop valves "round" compared to the later "squared" version ??

 

Not sure John. I don't know about the prop valves, but I was hoping the master cylinder had a part number somewhere on it.

 

I found an NOS MC on Ebay - I hope it is the right one.
