Wanted: BIG exhaust manifolds L69/L98

Hello all.

I bought a set of TPI manifolds from a Trans Am with a 305 because I mistakenly thought that all TPI engines used the big ones. Imagine my surprise when the small ones showed up with another crap, useless y-pipe, just like the LO3 junk I already have.

So, what I need are some of the big manifolds. My 88 IROC has the big ones and I mistakenly thought that they're all alike.

This time, before I make a deal, I need verified measurements. It seems like the big ones are bigger than 2.10" and less than 2.25" I'd like a matching y-pipe too, but I'll buy a big y-pipe If I have to.

Thanks guys.

Just an FYI: The only TPI exhaust manifolds which aren't the "big" ones are from a '91/'92, auto, 305.

Re: Wanted: BIG exhaust manifolds L69/L98

That is supposed to be true, but apparently this 90 Trans Am that was formerly TPI had the LO3 manifolds and y-pipe on it. Apparently there is an RPO that you had to have with the TPI to get the big manifolds. I've read a ton of threads and posts around here about it, and that's why I just want them measured first before I pay.

That will solve all the issues quickly.

That's weird. And as you've said, the Y-pipe is different for each as well.

Re: Wanted: BIG exhaust manifolds L69/L98

This thread gives a decent story. With all the threads I'm reading, it seems like from 1989 and older, the TPI gets the good ones along with the L69. From 1990 on its a crap shoot, with G92 optioned cars seeming to get the good ones, but TPI cars without G92 getting the cheap stuff.

This is one is good, too.

Re: Wanted: BIG exhaust manifolds L69/L98

These LO3 parts WILL get scrapped, no worries there.

This build up is for my mom's car. She lives in a place where she has to keep a low profile, so no booming exhaust (like mine, hahahhaha.) I'm probably gonna use the OEM cat-back off my 88 IROC-Z with the 2 3/4" pipe since its not rusted out. I've got to run manifolds, bigger y-pipe, my 3" cat, and OEM type sound.

Re: Wanted: BIG exhaust manifolds L69/L98

y-pipe too, please! And a shipping quote to 33809. Its ok if the y-pipe is cut up as long as the pipes are still there headed for the cat. From the cat back (including the cat) I have the rest covered.

Re: Wanted: BIG exhaust manifolds L69/L98

sorry, no y pipe, I fabbed it up to fit the headers, cuz I'm too tight to buy an aftermarket one, but DAMN I should have.... ended up having 5 hours in that thing.....
looks like someone has drilled out the holes and slid long bolts all the way through the one manifold...

Re: Wanted: BIG exhaust manifolds L69/L98

Have you got the spacer that goes on the RH manifold? The tapered piece that allows the pipe to hook up?

Re: Wanted: BIG exhaust manifolds L69/L98

do you have a preferred shipping method?? and how fast do you want them??
this would be easier during the week if done by email, if you don't mind...

Re: Wanted: BIG exhaust manifolds L69/L98

Good feedback left for greggbruce. I got my big bore manifolds today and they are better than the pictures.

I'm moving forward now, thanks!
