you will need to bypass the relay and wire direct to the ignition. I did this between the back seats...others use the relay on the firewall drivers side.

I didn't change anything when I went to carb. It's worked perfectly for a year now. However, if you got rid of wires "you didn't need" you may have boned yourself. Dunno.

What were you running before? CC Carb, TPI, TBI? if you were running TBI or TPI you'll need to wire up the fuel pump.
I pulled up my back seats and in the middle there are 3 (?) wires, power, ground, and gauge. I grounded the one wire right to the back of the seats and then ran the power wire to the fuse box.
I'm assuming you have a fuel pressure regulator right? The in-tank pump would mess up your carb and probably catch something on fire if you don't use a fuel pressure regulator to lower the pressure down to 5-7psi....

Yes splice it into the fuse box in a place thats hot when the key is on. The safest way to do it would be to buy a oil pressure saftey switch so that when there is no oil pressure (ie, car isn't running) the pump turns off. So if you get into an accident or something your fuel pump won't continue to dump gas everywhere.

the pump will run all the time.when ignition is on...thus the return line on the afpr...make sure the vent line on the gas tank is clear and open.......

I kept my computer and all of the wiring in place; just tucking it away. I didn't have to wire my fuel pump differently, it works just fine without ANY work at all.
My two cents,

seems funny how some pumps will run and some wont after the swap
I agree with scauffiel, I wouldnt Cut ontil I m sure I dont need it, I'm in the process of deleting wires now...little by little.
( my pump would prime, but then would not keep running, as the case with alot of swaps)

Wher can you get an oil pressure safety switch and how would i run it. I like the back seat wires idea but I want the pump to turn off when the cars off. How can I hook it up with the oil pressure switch. Also, what ECM wires control the pump. My computer is still in the car and I dont mind reconnecting some of the wires so that I dont have to bypass the pump or rewire it. the first time i went from TPI to carb it worked, but now i put a new carb motor in and it doesnt work. i may have cut some wires. Pics are great. Thanks
