2.8mp to 5.0 tbi ?

I HAVE A 88 TRANS AM THAT I RECENTLY WRECKED AND I HAVE FOUND A 89 FIREBIRD THAT I CANNOT PASS UP ON , MY QUESTION IS HOW HARD IS IT TO SWAP MY 5.0 OUT AND PUT IN THE FIREBIRD?, WOULD I NEED ANY ADDITIONAL PARTS TO DO THE JOB? AND WOULD THE TRANS OUT OF THE FIREBIRD WORK
ON THE 5.O OR WOULD I NEED TO TAKE THE TRANS OUT OF THE TRANSAM . BOTH CARS HAVE AN AUTOMATIC IN THEM.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP U CAN GIVE.

Do you have to pass emissions? If so, it's a little harder, although no harder than just getting the TBI to work.

Yes, you have to change the transmission. And a bunch of other stuff, like harnesses, computer, in-tank fuel pump, radiator, hoses, cables; anything that bolts to the engine or feeds it. Moving the front engine mounts on the cross-member alone will kill the better part of a day.

You should have all of the parts you need from your wrecked car, but, you might want to resist this "can't-pass" car and look for a factory V8 car with a blown engine. Unless you're getting the V6 car free and don't mind the time you're going to have to spend to pull it off.

Also, welcome aboard, but please locate the "Caps Lock" key and push it until the caps lock light goes out. Thanks.
