LT1 wiring questions
I am going to be searching for an LT1 to drop in my firebird in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if anyone who has done this swap could tell me what to leave in my car and what to take out, what odds and ends I will need to get that I may not realize. I have read all the posts on the board and I would like to do this swap with as few screw ups as possible.

remove the engine harness, and computer. Leave everything else.
Get a helms manual, it's a must for this kind of thing. It's worth its weight in gold.
if you have any specific questions you can email me at imkory@yahoo.com.
Hope this helps,
Kory

I was mainly wondering about relays and such, are these part of the LT1 harness or should I reuse mine? I appreciate the responses. I am sure I will definitly need help later with other things. I will be looking into the HELM manuals tomorrow.

Are you getting a stock harness, or a custom made one? I had a stock one converted for my application by fuel injection specialties. They took my stock 94 ta lt1 harness and cut clipped and labled it for 325 dollars. It had all the relays ect that were needed to run the lt1. If you get the helms maneul for your car and one for the lt1 car you should be able to do the complete harness yourself.

for cost reasons I will be using a factory harness. I am hoping to find a decent low mileage 96-97 LT1. I will have to see what year engine I get before I buy a manual.I have switched mustang style fuel injection into other cars, but this will be my first GM.
