I don't quite understand "will this trans work with my 5 speed?"
Do you mead will the lt1 work with my 5 speed. If that is what you want to know, it will but will probably not last that long.
It sounds like you have almost everything for the swap. Will you be doing the work yourself? How good of a grasp of what needs to be done do you have? ( I mean how mechanically inclined are you) You could probably finish the swap for less than 2k if you do the work yourself. The little parts ad up really fast though. If you have to pay someone to do it for you than you will definately not make it in under 2k aditional.
Hope this helps.

IT would be a group (me and friends) project. I dont have great knowledge! I just dont want to give up my 5 speed! That would be stupid! I dont think I will be able to afford it anyhow. I would have to get a new computer and wiring harness and that just isnt worth it to me! But thanx for the reply
the T5 bolts right up, thats what Im using, just reuse your 305 flywheel. with everything you are getting, there wont be much extra stuff you need to get. but like Kory said, it all adds up real fast.

if you wanted to save on the head aches you could carb the lt1. gm performance parts sells the intake for around $250.00 the HP with the carb is better than the stock set up. i'm doing this conversion now. any questions e- mail me
there are two things that kill T5's:
1. bad driving
2. an outright race car
When I put the LT1 in, my car had 123K miles on, its now got almost 160K. the only reason I am having to rebuild the transmission now is my last clutch went out and I had to drive it like that for almost a month, banging through the gears, and it detroyed the synchros. As soon as school is over Im rebuilding it completely to allow it to last atleast another two years. I think it will last even longer, atleast until I get alot of power going through it.
