dang it, another "parts car"
dang it, another "parts car"
Just brought home parts car number two, makes a total of four Camaros, two in the garage and two on the driveway. It's gettin' crowded around here....It's an '81 Berlinetta with 305 4bbl and automatic,I'm assuming a TH350?The motor and tranny will go into an '82 Berlinetta that my son and I are putting together for him.I realize that we will have to swap exhaust manifolds and possibly a few other parts but will the second gen trans lever hook up to the third gen shifter? Will the driveshaft from the '82 V6 3 speed auto tranny(model number unknown) fit the TH350?Will a second gen rad fit a third gen?Any pitfalls to watch out for?I thought the second gen parts car would be a good deal seeing as it has 15" aluminium Z28 wheels and I happen to have a '79 Z28 myself that could use a few small parts..........the fun never ends

I'm not completely sure about all of this, but no one else was responding.
The tranny is most likely a TH200C - no overdrive, no torque arm mount. The shifter & driveshaft from the '82 should work, but the TH200 doesn't have a swapable tailshaft housing, and the V6 & V8 bellhousings are different. You'll either have to fab up a way to mount the torque arm to the crossmember, or get another tranny.
I doubt the radiators will swap. You could probably tell better by going out and looking at the two.
You're going to need other donor-car parts to get the V8 in the '82 V6 car (engine mounts, induction/ignition control system, throttle cable, etc.). Perhaps Donor Car #3?
