Do all P/S pumps bolt to the cylinder head?

I have double hump heads on my 350, and they have a hole brazed in for the alternator, but I was wondering do all P/S pumps(long style water pump)bolt to the front of the head? My boss said something about mounting it low, and the brackets go off the motor mount bolts or something, not quite sure what he was talking about. Thanks.
