what cam do you all recomend for my new engine?

I was gonna go with the LT 4 hot cam, but someone pointed out that it doest reach its peak power till about 4900 rpms. I dont believe my 700R4 will be hitting those numbers. Here is my combo:
350 engine, Vortec heads, Alumimun intake manifold, TPI, Headmen headers, 52mm throttle body, Edlebrock high flow runners, 1.6 roller rockers, 24lbs injectors
Ok, this is based on an article in Gm High Tech Performance (sept). The only things I already have is the engine, TPI and headers.
Now I dont know that much about cams, but I know i need power between 1000 and 4000 rpms, which cam should I go with? And should i still use the 1.6 roller rockers? Thanks for the help,

It's not your TH700R4 that will limit the RPMs of the engine (just hold it in the lower gear), it's the TPI runners. I don't know the specifics about the Edelbrock runners you're thinking of running, but I assume they're shorter as well as higher flow. If so, no problem with the Hot Cam and 1.6 rockers (although porting the plenum would be a good idea, if you haven't already).

I assume you plan on working those Vortec heads over a la CHP magazine article in the August '02 edition. Also assume you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator in the works as well (you can probably get along with your 22lb injectors).

By "aluminum intake manifold", I assume you mean "SDPC Vortec TPI base" - ~$400.

Guess I won't make my usual comments about the Vortec route.

The Hotcam will work fine in your application, in fact it is perfect for your combo. I can't tell you what his usual comments are about Vortech heads, but I have them on my 383 and also the Hotcam and this engine kicks some butt. Your combo will make great off idle power and you can easily hit 5000 with the engine and the tranny with no problems. Hope this helps!!
