I have a 2.8L v6 in my 1984 Firebird now and I am putting in a 350 what all do i need. I have the 350 motor and a 700r4 tranney and new springs, do i need a new fan, raditor, starter ,alternater, or what. Thanks for all the help.

 

Okay here is the list of things you'll need. Starting from the front of the car. Fan blade and shroud assembly,radiator, upper and lower hoses all the bracketry for the alt, ac and ps pump. You'll need the alternator and ps pump the ac compressor will work on the v8 you just have to get the correct brackets and bolt them on to the compressor. Motor mounts for the v-8 (use the most forward holes in the crossmember) the trans will fall back into place without any modification to the crossmember or the driveshaft(v6 and v8 trans length are the same). You'll have to come up with something for exhaust from the heads all the way back. The bracketry for the accessories doesn't have to be 3rd gen specific find a salvage yard that will work with you for crossing the numbers over to other chevy powered vehicles(my ps pump came off of a 88 Monte Carlo bolted right up) I know that there is probably more pieces than that for a swap but that should cover the major parts. Rewiring the car is not to bad of a job either just get a hold of a good wiring diagram and start eliminating the stuff you dont need. It sound like a lot but its really not that bad,heck the cars were made with v8s so all you have to do is scrounge for the parts. Good Luck!
