Cost Of 3.1 To 350 Swap
Cost Of 3.1 To 350 Swap
A lot of post on here ask what it cost to do swaps here is a list of cost incurred on recent such swap.
91 camaro rs 3.1 700.00
350 from 78 k5 300.00
700r4 from 84 g van (17 y old overpaid by 200 didnt listen) 600.00
Summit headers 79.50
custom exhaust 206.00
new radiator Auto Zone 117.00
Mallory pressure regulator :summit 74.95
B&M transpack 59.95
B&M 700r4 kick down kit 33.95
Edelbrock low profile air breather (clearance issues) 20.00
fuel pressure gage 7.00
misc (wire switches fittings clamps oil anti freeze ect)aprox 125.00
son also didn't listen when i told him he couldn't bolt torque converter to fly wheel before installing trans on engine
tranny tech to make 1 good from 2 from blown pump 200.00
total cost is 2531.30
experience with the exception of just about killing my son for not listening not bad
time spent with son PRICELESS
The advice here is if you can get a v8 car by all means do it but if you can't as in our case it really isn't that bad .Then again my son did all the work he had the most trouble switching motor mounts.
We did get a car that had just recently had new springs tie rods sway bar brakes and brand new tires on it ( still had sticker in the tread) so that was a plus car sits perfect no need to change springs. Do need to get the frame straps ordered before going to the track
Hope this helps answer some questions for those about to do it .

Or instead of spending all that money and time, you could buy a different one with a 350 in it already for about the same price or a little more. But yeah if you want to go to all that work that's cool. I don't know if I would. I like working on my car but if I had a V6 and wanted a V8 I wouldn't tackle the project alone. I'd have to have some extra sets of hands to make it move along faster.

True as I stated above but I really think this was the right way to go.Its my sons car and he is 17 if I could have found one with the v8 already in it he wouldn't be the same with it. He would have nothing invested in it and would be more apt to rage on it and wouldn't have gained the experience or pride of a job well done.
Yes I would do it again!
