alternator wireing

hey guys i just swaped out my 305tbi for a carbed 350 and the alt isn;t chargin the battery and its sumtin with the wireing so coudl someone please tell me where the wires go from the clip on the alt? thanks

There should be a red wire (larger of the two) that is tied into the +12V circuit. The smaller wire (should be brown) should be connected to a +12V ignition source. (only 12V when the key is on, otherwise 0).

ok well i hooked it up and it works and everythging is go but i would like to use an inline fuse for safety, do u know wut amp i should get or is there a way to tell without crazy tools? thanks
