I have an 89 formula, 305 with a 5speed. The motor is smoking and is about due for a rebuild (165,000 miles). I can get my hands on a the complete drivetrain out of a 4th gen trans am. Not positive on the year...I believe it is a 96, I will find out for sure. Are motor and tranny features similar enough to use the motor with my 5speed? If not, can I use the 350 and tranny from the 4th gen?
