i found a 350
i found a 350
Its from a 1987 IROC. its tuned port injection, has head work and a cam etc. When it was in the camaro it ran 13.9 in the 1/4. A little while back he smashed it up. you guys should see it, its awesome red IROC with a ugly crumpled up nose. anyway the motor survived perfectly, and i called him and he'll sell it to me. What is gonna be involed with the swap? I plan to build it up before i put it in. i am putting all forged internals in it too so someday it can handle a supercharger. I am gonna put a superram on it and perhaps some alum. heads.
So what difficluties will be involved in the swap. Will i have to modify the computer? thanks alot.
will headers from my 305 bolt up to it?

Is it the same intake sensor?
should this just be a straight forward swap?
please help, the motor will soon be out of the camaro...i need to know if i should get it....Is it a four bolt?

Stick with the long block. Put your TPI and accessories on the '87 block & heads. Everything, including your headers, will bolt up.
Possible exceptions to the above is the 350 knock sensor and module. If I understand correctly, they should interchange, and it's best to use the 350 version. Might as well get the 22lb 350 injectors and fuel pressure reg while you're at it.
It is not the same intake sensor. Your '91 is speed density, the '87 is mass air flow.
You may want to go with a 350 chip sometime, but it should run with the 305 chip.

So what your saying is to put the 305's TPI and put it on the 87, and all the perf stuff too from the 305. then get a chip and larger injectors, and it should be a straight forward swap...
BTW; which company makes the superram?

What I should have said was use the entire TPI set-up from the 305, except use the knock sensor & module, injectors, and fuel pressure regulator from the 350.
You can get a factory chip for an '87 350 TPI if you want, or have a custom one made (or get your own burning equipment).
