My 383 blew up yesterday..I need combos/ideas that will work with my existing parts
What I have left
Superram,TPIS bigmouth,,52mm TB,30lb SVO injectors
TFS G1(approx 260 at .500 intake),non -SA Crane Gold rocker arms
Comp 08-305-8 cam .510 I/E,220/230 dur,114 LSA (willing to replace)-stock style roller setup
TRW +.30 pistons,5.7 Rods
CLoyes timing chain(20K miles)
Cracked 87 350 block(in the front of the uel pump block off plate),broken and/or Scat 9000 crank(3.75 stroke/one piece seal) bent crank(at the snout)..Possibly a main failure..
I also have a non-roller 4 bolt one piece seal 350 from a truck that had a head gasket failure..Heads are off so the bores has a lining of rust..I wonder if I could use my old pistons to work on this?
idea
1)Stroke the 4 bolt 350,get retrofit roller lifters and reuse everything (including the pistons)
2)Look or trade for a 400 block/crank reuse everything but pistons and cam
Ideal would be to have a 400 block, new crank(stroke it(yeh right),old rods ,new pistons ,new cam..
I was happy with the previous combo except I want improvements on the head flow..It currently have a 5angle valve job but Im still thinking of hogging it out nad put more cam so Im trying to save a bit on the bottom..

Im thinking if I get the same exact replica of the shortblock (but stronger) then it woulod save me on fitting the heads, cam and valvetrain stuff..measuring and all..(well a bit ..lol)..I can reuse my flywheel and less guesswork on what would work/match and not..Im open to suggestions though..My guess is that the motor is making around 400HP and a 420 plus on torque..Any ideas with what I currently have??
