84 L83 CFI into 83 LU5 CFI

Hello! Just joined and am digging for info! I own an 83 T/A with the Cross Fire 305. I may be crazy, especially in light of the LT1/LS1/Crate swap options, but I just had to ask about this.

From all that I've found out so far there are several shared pieces between the Vette's CFI engine (L83) and the FBody's CFI. Does anyone know if the wiring connectors are the same? I believe the chip is all that's different at the computer level. I'm not looking for a 12 sec. street machine but am thinking an L83 with a windage tray, free flowing cat and exhaust along with some computer changes could easily produce a mid 14 sec. car while retaining the "stock" look without the expense of the newer engine swaps.

Any info on the differences/similarities between these 2 engines is greatly appreciated!

Thanks Bob!

Yeah I posted over there as well. It's called the CrossFire Injection Forum, at least that's the one I found.

I broke out some old mags that have the '84 Vette motor shown pretty clearly and it's beginning to look like the same issues of exhaust, motor mount and possibly trans mount (even though it has the same trans) as doing an LT1, so I'm leaning back in that direction. Guess I'd just have to suffer with the additional 75hp or 95hp to start with!

Still think it would be cool to have a 350CFI with one of those X-Ram manifold some guy down in Texas was building, people who bought 'em said they breathe extremely well.
